I am a chiropractic practitioner in the Greenville community. I graduated with my doctorate of chiropractic from Sherman in December of 2020. Prior to attending Sherman I completed my undergraduate studies at Central Michigan University majoring in Kinesiology. Currently, our world is full of unknowns as we face an ongoing pandemic. Covid-19 has revealed many things about our nation as a whole. Yet the most prevalent piece of information that this pandemic has offered is that the fear of the unknown is one of the most dominant emotions in human nature, naturally. While fear of the unknown can be paralyzing for many, including myself, it is nice to refocus on information and knowledge that we do have. One vital piece of information that we can lean on is what chiropractic care can do for the immune system.
According to various research studies conducted, including the peer reviewed research article tittled Chiropractic ANS the Neuroimmune Connection there is a significant link between the nervous system and the immune system within the human body. Furthermore, chiropractic adjustments were found to have beneficial effects on the function on both the nervous system and immune system. Chiropractic care, as well as other health conscious lifestyle choices including limiting stress, eating healthy, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep, are great immune system boosters and can help your body’s adaptability level.
Chiropractic care as well as the other previously mentioned lifestyle choices are not a cure all and I acknowledge that. There are so many unknown factors involved with the coronavirus and it would be unwise to neglect the current medical expertise that we currently have on the subject. Do not delay seeking medical attention if you have been exposed or think that you may have been exposed to the virus at this point in time.
With all of the uncertainty and fear we are facing during these trying times, take heart that you can still play an active roll in your health and give yourself the best fighting chance against any sickness by making conscious health choices including the previously mentioned choices listed above. Everyday we get to choose if we want to improve our health or worsen it by the conscious decisions that we make. Let’s all strive for health together, at a safe socially distanced 6-ft-apart, of course.
In health and happiness,
Kami Munley
